Gameplay
A Swiss Round lasts 40 minutes. When time has run out for the round, it will be announced on discord. If you are still playing when time is called, the match goes into “turns”. Five more turns will be played counting the current player’s turn as “Turn 0.” The next player will be turn 1, then turn 2, turn 3, turn 4, and finally turn 5. After all table results are reported, pairings for the next round will be generated. Watch the announcements on discord to get updates, as this time can change.
DO NOT select timers. Timers can bug out the game. Instead, if you are concerned that a player is slow-playing, you can call a judge and share your screen with them on discord.
Disputes
In the case of a DISPUTE, it should be brought to our attention in the disputes channel ASAP. Once a Judge has made a decision, it should be enforced by the players.
It is strongly recommended to have screenshot proof of any win or tie upon the conclusion of a game. If you leave a game without explicitly stating "time is over, this is a tie" or something similar, it could be perceived as a concession.
Technical Issues
If you encounter a technical issue DO NOT EXIT the match. Instead, take a screenshot of your issue and force close the app WITHOUT leaving the game. Then try and re-enter your match after opening up the Pixelborn application again.
If a player encounters a game-breaking technical issue and his/her opponent refuses a rematch, the player with the technical issue will incur a loss. If both players encounter the same technical issue, they will play a rematch. If a judge is called, that judge reserves the final call in granting a WIN to a player, or a rematch -no matter whose technical bug it was. These decisions are made based on proof provides, as well as which player is favoured by the current game state.
If a technical issue occurs in the TOP CUT, similar rules will be followed, but judges will have the discretion to force a rematch, if given appropriate evidence of the technical issue, and a genuine chance of winning (from the player with the technical issue).
No Shows
If a person doesn't show up after 5 minutes, he loses the first game. After 10 minutes, he loses both.
We DO grant ample time during the first round, as players have to grow accustomed to the website system.
When starting a match, both players select to go first. The client will then choose the first player at random.
The player who loses the first game, then gets to decide if he wants to go first or second in the next game. If he wants to go first ONLY he checks the "go first" option, and the other player selects none.
If you want to drop out of the tournament, please drop out on the website! It saves the admin and opposing player so much trouble! (They have to try and find you, let a judge know that they can't find their opponent, etc)
Before reporting a no-show, you must:
1) try to join your game with the pairing code
2) try to chat in the chatbox on the website
3) if the chat isn't working and your opponent hasn't joined your game on pixelborn, try to look for them in discord
